which exhibition

I see the first exhibition called “Invisibles”: A group show featuring the three artist working with signals, an intangible and invisible material.

favorite work

My favorite work is “Electromagnetic Induction” by Christina Kubisch.

what do I like

The process of finding sound is just like using 2 metal rod to find rare minerals. That is what I learned from cartoon Rupan Sansei that when its direction is changing, it means that there is a strange magnetic field and you might find treasure. That discovery is interesting.

It also remind me that it is not a new thing for me. Actually during my under-graduate study, I sometimes saw people wandering around the campus holding a device with long antenna. They look so funny and later I realize that they are doing club activity for Radio Lover Club. I don’t think they would perceive themselves as artists. It is just science. It is artists’ perception that changes our perception for Electromagnetic Induction.

It also remind me of an art project that also have string parttern like this but has nothing to do with electromagnet. It is “playing the building” by david byrne. There is a piano in this building and each key is attatch to part of the building so each time one key is pressed, one part of the building would make a special sound physically.

how intangible is used

We used to use sensors but now we cannot see sensors. The artists are creating a large sensor that when we engage in it, we forget that it is a sensor.

different ideas

I would try to make part of the wire denser like a spiral. So that we can see people trying to go to the center of this electromagenetic field just like ion.
